Comments:
Selling this lot of kornerupine, which has been graded for color, by the gram. The clarity is mixed, but not clean for faceting, generally. Some of the SI pieces in this lot could cut VS or better melee gems, but this lot is intended to be used as melee cabochon rough. The cabochons will have varying amounts of inclusions, but the overall clarity and color will turn out looking good for affordable cabochons. Color will help to mask some inclusions too. Average finished cabochon should be in the .1 to .5 ct range.
roughly 8 to 12 pieces per gram
Good kornerupine rough is impossible to find these days. Any rough is honestly hard to come by. I sorted through this material over several buys, as I hunted for facet rough, and so I know there are little goodies throughout this lot that have good life as gems ahead of them. The leftovers can adorn a shelf, windowsill, fish tank, or planter - whatever's clever!
