Comments:
Mahenge garnets created quite a stir when they hit the market in 2015. They came in a great range of all colors pink to purple.
The real kicker, though, besides the incredibly open colors, was the brightness!! They have EXTRA brightness compared to other garnets. With a dispersion of around 1.76 to 1.78, they even give sapphires a run for their money in the 'sparkle' department.
What Mahenge garnets may be the MOST known for, though, is their ability to shift their color in different light. These gems are pictured in natural daylight, but under incandescent light, they tend to shift HARD to a red-pink, or from purple to pink, etc. There are all different shades of Mahenge garnet, so they all shift color a little differently. They are really something special, and I have held onto a small parcel of these from which I cut one every once in a while, or very rarely, sell a little rough.
Don't sleep!! These are hardly ever available anymore!
