This gem is a screaming OPEN magenta color, thanks to the specific optical properties of this new-find rhodolite garnet coming from Tanzania in late 2024 / early 2025
I did several test cuts of a small stash of the material that I acquired. I cut all 3 color shades I could pick out. This one came out in a super pure magenta color RIGHT between purple and pink. Of the other ones, the oval I cut leaned reddish orange pink, and the square-cushion had a bit of purple in the mix.
This gem was faceted by Scott Maier, in an original design.
