This is an extremely large size, and a very deep color for Maine aquamarine. There is not a lot of Maine aqua available out there these days, and the little that there is, will usually be small, and mostly colorless. Examples over 1 ct. are hard to find, and over 2 ct. are considered very sought after and collectible.
This piece comes from rough out of an OLD collection. I bought it from the Creaser Jewelry Store in Paris, Maine in 2015, which is known for having bought out the famous Perham's store in 2005, or so. It would have entered the collection of the Perham's store some time between 1950-1990.
This is a totally custom faceting design, top to bottom, and it performs pretty well! Theres lots of life, at both ends, and the pattern in the middle manages to keep from being a lot of boring, long parallel facets. Lots of bright life fills this gem!
This is a rare opportunity to acquire an investment-quality Maine aquamarine with unbeatable clarity, and good color. The only flaw is a hardly-remaining dislocation that cut out 99.999% of the way, but technically, can still be seen with a loupe, on the crown. It will not be noticeabe at all in-hand, or while worn.
