This gemstone is my idea of the perfect color shade in the warm spectrum. it's got a very even balance of red, orange, and pink, resulting in a rich and dynamic tone.
I cut this one in a simple oval and I love the result. Brilliant on the pavillion, simple step cut on top.
I can't get over the openness of the color! Usually reds this intense are dark, and oranges this bright are full of sugary inclusions.
The new garnet material that was found, and briefly available, from the October 2024 find in Tanga Tanzania are intense little gems. They are a bit reminiscent of the 2015 Mahenge garnets. The color range is different, but the openness, and brightness of these is a cut above your everyday rhodolite found in Tanzania and elsewhere.
