Comments: Kornerupine is, in my opinion, one of the world's most interesting gemstones. It also happens to be one of the rarest, as well. This is really too bad, as it is a visually stunning, and durable gemstone. It's just incredible.
Kornerupine come from a few places. It' not common from anywhere, but Tanzania has had the most production over the last several decades.
But this piece comes from Madagascar. This one is an amazing tannish yellow, and soft, mossy green color, together. Like tourmaline, it has different colors on different axes. The two color een in the gem are from opposing axes, and the facets mix the two together.
This gem is one of the only clean pieces I have ever seen. It's on the small side, but it's so delightfully colored, and bright, that it punches up a level in 'wow' factor.
