Maine tourmaline gems are hard to find. Everyone wants to find one, and people come from near and far to try. In reality, almost every bit of Maine tourmaline is mined by private operations in affiliation with jewelry stores. There are a few places you can go and hunt and find tourmaline still, but it really helps to just know where to buy some.
I worked as a jeweler and gem cutter for a locally affiliated jewelry store in South Paris, and I was able to purchase a humble amount of material during those years to save for when I was a better gem worker. Well Ive gone through a lot of that material by now, and although I have a little bit left to play with, I don't have nearly as much of this rare stuff as I wish I could have bought.
These slices - which are a pretty good match to each other, but not exact - would still make a great set of matched earrings and a ring, or necklace. Or the three together could be a bracelet.
These are a medium-light green with a lighter center. Clarity is great for slices, and can be called VS, or SI if you're stingy, lol.
