Comments:
Aquamarine from the Sawtooth mountains in Idaho are renowned for their great form and color. They are often etched, and usually have pretty good color!
This pristine example is a rare crystal that has just a very small amount of etching. The luster is glassy, and the top termination is flat, undamaged, and VERY lustrous. You can see just a few little track lines of the etching process. Likewise, there are just a few markings here and there along the crystal where you can see some etching that had started.
At the bottom, it looks as though the crystal had gotten etched in a fracture until it was snapped off in the pocket . Essentially it etched itself into a scepter, and then the stem broke off. This sort of gives it the appearance of being double terminated, but there is a clear break-off point if you look directly at the bottom.
