The embodiement of 'when nature outdoes herself' - It's one thing to have made a beautiful watermelon dravite tourmaline crystal, but it is OUTSTANDING to see a clean yellow tourmaline crystal trapped, and included within that canvas.
To add to the incredible aesthetics of this piece, the clarity is extremely good for a slice. It's got a few very sparse inclusions, so I hesitate to call it VS, but it sits in a place right on the SI/VS line.
It's an open, medium green color all around the outside edge, with a concentric dividing ring of very dark green, which is fantastic, because it's like a frame, and then the interior space of the slice is a mottled mix of light green, and a blue-ish colorless shade.
I've only ever seen one other tourmaline slice with a whole other tourmaline included. It was also nice, but this piece is such a one in a zillion chance, and so well formed, it really stands out, and is memorable.
