Comments:
Beryl is one of my top favorite gem types. I also love tourmaline, garnets, and sapphire crystals!
There's something about a perfectly crystallized, prismatic gem crystal that is entirely alluring. I could get lost looking at almost every nice gem crystal I see.
But definitely bonus points go to crystals that are INTERESTING! This one certainly fits that description -- It has multiple internal features, including several distinct 'zones' of gemminess, translucency, or color that continue to catch your attention.
The bottom half of the crystal is little more included, a little less transparent, and has slightly stronger color. The top half Iwould characterize as extra gemmy, with interesting, stable inclusions, and capped by what I can only call an immaculate termination - It's perfectly flat and glassy on top, with triangular modifying faces at each corner.
Though this is brand new material on the market, it is also classic Nigerian vanadium emerald type beryl. I personally find this recent discovery to have better size, and aesthetics, including richer color banding. (This particular crystal only happens to have maybe a couple of visible color bands).
This gem has what I would call ideal proportions: It is quite long, without being incredibly thin. It has great heft and diameter for it's length.
These won't be around forever, like any great find. Add this one to your collection for great show-stopper power!
