Comments:
Mahenge garnets are the gold standard in garnet gem performance. Their find in 2015 presented one of the brightest, most color-dynamic gems on the market from then on. In particular, the pink to peach to apricot range of this find were particularly coveted. It has a lot to do with their higher than average refractive index, compared to other garnets of the same type from other places.
This gem is solidly within the pink to peach end of the very desirable. It's got good cutting, and great polish. It performs well, without major windowing.
This gem could serve all kinds of purposes, from ring centerpiece, to catalogued in a gemstone collection.
There aren't too many of these left available out there! Plus production from this deposit has long-since been tapped out. Other gem garnets have been discovered close by in the region, but the original find is gone.
