Comments:

This is a really unique specimen of spinel, which I find irresistible.  It has a great silky lavender color on most of the exterior, and a very dark, but gemmy, plum-colored core that you can clearly see from the bottom.

The specimen consists of 4 to 5 spinel octohedra, interlocked with each other.  There are a few places where there is a bit of internal crystallization, which leaves aesthetic 'hopper' like growth areas.  As mentioned above, there is a milky / silky coating over the whole specimen.  With all of these textural elements of the specimen, it really gives the piece a unique and beautiful look.

This piece is a great one for the collection!  It is in the large thumbnail or small miniature specimen range, and has no noticeable damage.  It's crystallized even on the bottom, where it looks rugged.
