Comments:
This is the largest good quality kornerupine I have cut yet. It has a top-notch custom cut that I designed especially for this stone. The performance of the cut comes through quite well, showing off past the inclusions easily, with a little help from the deep, rich green color.
Kornerupine is one of the rarest gems on earth, and anything over 1 ct. is considered large. Though there is a fair dusting of sugar crystals, the gem is blissfully free of dislocations, veils, AND silk.
I consider myself to be something of an expert on this gem type, and I can hardly believe I have the absolute privilege of holding an example of this size in my hands. A kornerupine gem nearing 4 carats that performs in modern optical terms and standards is unheard of. Especially in a desirable color! (Tsavorite range)
I am very proud to have created it from the rough myself. a LOT of experience came in to play making this one.
It could easily sit proudly in a museum collection.
